Welcome to Hearing Life e-News, the new name of our popular online newsletter, which complements our newly-renamed printed member magazine, Hearing Life. Both Hearing Life e-News and Hearing Life are about you – the person at the center of your own care. They are about learning all you can about hearing loss and getting better access to communication and then making your own choices about what works for you. Read Barbara’s full message.

National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) logo Great News for Our Chapters and State Organizations!
HLAA and the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) have teamed up to provide HLAA Chapters and State Organizations affordable CART at a significantly reduced rate. NCRA will connect HLAA staff with certified members who are able to provide pro bono service to HLAA Chapters for Professional Development Credits. It's Ok to Look At Your Phone At A Broadway Show, If Your Hearing Is Impaired
Jerry Bergman, a long-time HLAA and HLAA New York City Chapter member, was recently featured in the NPR article, It's Ok to Look At Your Phone At A Broadway Show, If Your Hearing Is Impaired. The article discusses a Shubert Organization and Broadway League initiative to offer a free app called GalaPro which allows patrons to get captions for a performance directly on their smartphone.
Gallaudet University Seeks Study Participants
Gallaudet University’s Deaf Health Communications and Quality of Life (DHCQoL) Center is conducting a national study that investigates health and quality of life outcomes in deaf and hard of hearing populations (PROMIS-DHH project). To date, they have data from more than 1,000 deaf adults who use American Sign Language. The next step is to include at least 250 deaf adults who use spoken English in this study. Read more.
