Fall Walk4Hearing Kicks Off in Fine Fashion in New York City

The fall season of the Walk4Hearing kicked off in a tremendous way this past Sunday in New York City. More than 800 walkers and 55 teams showed up to show their support for people with hearing loss. And this is just the beginning. With 11 more Walks scheduled between now and November we are confident this will be the best fall ever! Read more.

HLAA Files Comments with FCC Regarding IP CTS
HLAA and several national consumer organizations as well as research organizations filed comments with the Federal Communications Commission regarding IP CTS (Internet Protocol Captioned Telephone Services). HLAA spearheaded these efforts because we know how important IP CTS is to many of you. Read more.

HLAA has partnered with the Ida Institute in Denmark to enhance the quality of audiological rehabilitation and support the advancement of hearing care. Through our collaboration we hope to strengthen the focus on a person-centered approach to hearing care. HLAA Member Earns Lifetime Achievement Award
Bruce Douglas, an HLAA and Chicago North Shore Chapter member, is the latest recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. The award is granted by Marquis Who’s Who, the world’s premier publisher of biographical profiles to recognize individuals who have notable accomplishments and leadership within their fields. Dr. Douglas has been a faculty member at the University of Illinois since 1962, where he continues to work to this day. Congratulations Bruce! Read more.

Hearing Aid Compatibility Task Force Announces Administrator Search
Competitive Carriers Association (CCA), CTIA, the wireless industry association, the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA), the National Association of the Deaf (NAD), Telecommunications for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDI) and the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), announced the opening for submissions for Administrator of the Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC) Task Force. FCC Reminds the Public about Emergency Alert Tests on October 3, 2018
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in coordination with the FCC, will conduct a nationwide test of the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system and a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) on October 3, 2018. Both EAS and WEA test messages will start with “THIS IS A TEST” and end with “No action is needed.” Read more.
