We May Be Ringing in the New Year, but it’s Never Too Late to Give!

As we get ready to put our party hats on and celebrate the new year, take a moment to consider the impact HLAA had on you in 2018.

It’s probably going to be pretty loud at the party you’re attending, but you’ve learned some great tips about how to deal with all that noise. Or even better, maybe your New Year’s Eve plans include celebrating with fellow HLAA Chapter Members or new friends you met at the Walk4Hearing. But whatever your plans are, please consider helping us continue our mission because of or impact on you and all people with hearing loss.

In 2019, HLAA celebrates 40 years since its founding. We couldn’t have made it all that time without you, but we need your continued support to make it another 40 years. Please consider a year-end gift to our annual fund. Your gift is tax-deductible for 2018 if you donate by midnight tonight, but is always tax-deductible no matter what year you make it in.

Thank you to all of you who have given in the past, perhaps through our appeals or by giving to a walker or team at the Walk4Hearing, or participating as a walker. From all of us at HLAA we wish you a happy and prosperous 2019.

Hearing Loss Threatens Mind, Life and Limb
In an article published in today's New York Times, Personal Health columnist Jane E. Brody explains why poor hearing is much more than just an annoying inconvenience. A growing body of research is linking untreated hearing loss to several costly ills, and the time has come for hearing protection and treatment of hearing loss to be taken much more seriously. Not only is poor hearing annoying and inconvenient for millions of people, especially the elderly, it is also an unmistakable health hazard, threatening mind, life and limb, that could cost Medicare much more than it would to provide hearing aids and services for every older American with hearing loss.
